Shield Mercantile Pty Ltd is committed to the protection of your personal information. We are bound by the National Privacy principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

Our staff are trained to respect your privacy in accordance with our procedures.

  • We are entitled to collect and hold information such as your name, age, address, contact details, gender, employment, next of kin.
  • We do not collect information that is ‘sensitive personal information’ as defined by the Privacy Act 1988.

Using and disclosing your personal information

  • Personal information is treated as confidential within the company, and is used by us for the purpose of debt recovery.
  • Your personal information is only available to the client who engaged us as an agent on their behalf.

Security of your personal information

  • Each office of the company is a secure site with keypad access required at all hours.
  • Files with personal information are retained in locked cabinets.
  • Electronic files require password access to the computer systems.

Your rights to access information

  • You have the right to access personal information we hold about you, subject to some exceptions allowed by law. Requests for access will need to be in writing.

Our computer-based system incorporates comprehensive client reporting modules that can be tailor-made to suit the specific needs of each client. The system also has provision for electronic data transfer that can save the client substantial time.
